Māori Language workshops for Early Childhood 2018

Courses offered for 2018

Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton, Napier, Palmerston North and Wellington

• Introduction to Te Reo Māori (Māori language)

• Te Reo Māori (Māori language – Full Day)

• Infants and Toddlers and Te Reo Māori

• In-Centre PDL (any of the above courses)

We work with EC teachers, centres and organisations (mainstream) to help strengthen people’s ability to speak te reo Māori.  We aim to provide a safe, inspiring and fun environment to learn.

Course 1:     Introduction to Te Reo Māori (Māori language)

3 hour Introduction course 1.30pm – 4.30pm

  Participants will:

·        Develop pronunciation skills

·        Practice/learn waiata and games

·        Learn/practice te reo Māori words, directives and phrases for an early childhood environment

·        Discuss and develop strategies to encourage whole centre use of te reo

Course 2:      Te Reo Māori (Māori language)

Full day course 9.00am – 3.00pm

Participants will:

·        Learn/practice te reo Māori words and phrases for items used in EC centres

·        Explore app’s that support children and teacher’s learning te reo Māori

·        Practice children’s waiata and games that enhance children’s understanding

Course 3:  Infants and Toddlers and Te Reo Māori

2 ½ hour course 6.15pm – 8.45pm

  Participants will:

·        Practice/learn waiata and rhymes/poems
